Nasal Polyp – Causes, Symptoms and Treatment
These are semi-transparent tumorlike growths in the nose. They are usually due to some allergy. Large polyps may cause partial or complete obstruction, as well as headache, nasal discharge, and loss of the sense of smell. Nasal polyps should be removed surgically.
At the same time, careful evaluation to the patient’s general condition, especially in regard to sensitivity to dust, pollen, bacteria, industrial fumes, tobacco, and other offensive odors should be carried out. Whatever the cause, the patient should avoid all such types of irritation in future.
