Acne Treatment Skin Care

Hot Water Bottle

In these modern days it seems strange to mention this old-fashioned method of giving specialized heat to certain areas of the body. Yet the old-fashioned hot water bottle is still very useful and inexpensive. But there are some precautions that should be taken.

Be sure to remove the cover before filling the hot water bag, and replace it afterwards. Half fill the bag with hot water, just hot enough to be comfortable, but not too hot. Before replacing the stopper, lay the hot water bag on the table, holding the neck upward and allowing the steam to escape. When the bag feels fairly flat, screw the stopper tightly in the place while still holding the ending up. Then dry the rubber part of the bag and replace the cover.

Precaution: Never use a hot water bottle without a cover, as this may burn the skin. As the bag cools, fill it again. When the treatment is completed, be sure to empty the bag and allow it to dry. Hang it upside down, open ready for use again when needed. This simple method of treatment is very useful for someone in shock, but be careful not to burn the unconscious or partially paralyzed patient.
